Chicks arrive!

As of this morning we have 3 new chicks! We gathered for breakfast at the hen house to celebrate.

Chicks?

Melanie the chicken has been behaving in a broody fashion.  She's gathered all the fake eggs in the hen house to sit on, she won't venture far away - so she's now got her own little hen house in which to attempt to hatch some chicks!
We'll keep up with her progress over the next few weeks.

Spring picnic!

A massive thanks to Helen for organising the easter picnic.  The biggest problem was keeping the chickens from the nosh!

Hooray! The community chickens have finally started laying! We got our first egg today.

Still not sure which of them it was, but the smart money is on Twinkle or Blackberry. Hopefully the rest of them will be inspired...

By a happy co-incidence, today we have a new and slightly more luxurious hen-house (an ex-garden shed kindly donated by a friend of friend of the Delachicks!) but it's still in bits and waiting to be assembled.
